A licensed electrician must permanently hardwire the heater and select controls, wiring and circuit protection for the chosen voltage and load. Keep the quartz tube horizontally level. Follow the unit label and the complete current installation manual, including the installation-specific mounting angles, floor height and combustible clearances.
- For surface mounting, keep combustible materials at least 18 inches from the sides and ends, 36 inches from the front and 6 inches behind the heater; flush-mount installations must follow the correctly sized frame instructions as well
- Wall mounting requires at least 12 inches below the ceiling; ceiling mounting requires at least 6 inches. Minimum floor clearance is 6 feet for a UL-labeled heater or 8 feet for a UL/CUL-labeled heater
- Wind, cold and an exposed location affect coverage. Have the heater layout and aiming planned for your space rather than relying on a guaranteed square-foot figure
- Allow the heater to cool and disconnect power before cleaning. Remove salt deposits with fresh water and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly before restoring power
