Compatibility & Installation

  • Use a qualified installer to verify structural attachment, electrical supply, ducting, makeup-air needs and applicable requirements.
  • Discharge outdoors; do not terminate into an attic or other enclosed space. Use metal or aluminum duct only; plastic duct is prohibited.
  • The generation-2 manual recommends a minimum of 32 inches from the cooking surface to the hood bottom. Coordinate this with the cooking-appliance manufacturer’s clearance requirements, which may be more restrictive.
  • Follow the matching mounting instructions; do not combine a half-inch template with a 4- or 8-inch spacer unless the exact installation is explicitly approved.
  • Keep baffles and ducts clean. A hood does not make an otherwise unsafe enclosure or combustible installation acceptable.
